Mr. Salman Burney joined SmithKline Beecham in 1992 as Director Marketing & Sales and was appointed Managing Director in 1997. Since SmithKline Beecham’s merger with Glaxo Wellcome in 2001 is CEO of GlaxoSmithKline Pakistan Limited. He also has regional management responsibility for Iran, & Afghanistan.

Mr. Salman Burney has a degree in Economics from Cambridge. He started his career with ICI, and worded with them in a number of businesses including Chemicals and Fibers, in Personnel as Regional Personnel Manager for Africa and Middle East and as General Manager, Agrochemicals and Seeds. He was appointed MD of SmithKline Beecham in 1997 and has been MD & CEO of GlaxoSmithKline since 2001.

Mr. Burney is currently President of the Overseas Investors Chamber. He is also actively involved in community activities including the Concern for Children Trust (a community partnership project supported by GSK). He is also a member of the Marketing Association of Pakistan and received its `Marketing Excellence` award in 2000.

He is married with two children.
